Random People Adding Me On Snapchat (READ This)
You wake up one day, turn on your phone, check Snapchat, and have dozens of new friend requests from users you don’t know. Who are these people?!
As weird as this might sound, this is actually a pretty common problem that many Snapchatters have faced since the beginning of this great app.
When it comes to customization of privacy settings, we can all agree that Snapchat lets you manage your decisions and unwelcome users to your friends list if you want.
The problem appears when you are getting more than one friend request, every single day, non-stop.
Don’t despair - we know the solution for this. Read more to learn about:

Why Do Random People Add Me on Snapchat?
Most times that you receive an unwanted friend request, we are talking about a random stranger or a bot account.
Bot accounts add people automatically, and this seems to be a problem on Snapchat from the very beginning.
It is also possible for a random person that you don’t know to add you, but perhaps they are in your friend’s circle and they aren’t bots.
If your account is too public, you can gain followers easily indeed, but you are opening the door to unwanted people to add you to their Snapchat profile.
It is kind of the Other Snapchatters Message when someone sees your story - you don’t know then, but they can find your profile page without major inconveniences.
Are Random Adds on Snapchat Normal?
Unfortunately, yes. Other social media sites also have problems such as this one, but they are not as common as on Snapchat.
Strangers adding you to your in-app friends list is a real inconvenience because it might lead to ignoring legitimate people that have added you to Snapchat recently.
In any case, Snapchat encourages their users to report suspicious activity, such as random friends request, so this exact thing gets solved sooner than later.
How to Stop People From Adding You on Snapchat
It is clear that you can prevent new users from getting into your friends list by Blocking Them on Snapchat.
Although you can simply block strangers, this won’t stop random people adding you from time to time.
If you don’t want to manually block people several times, then your best course of action is to follow one of the next three methods we are about to show you.
Method 1: Disable Quick Add
Snapchat Quick Add is a feature that allows you to find friends easily and add them by simply tapping a little icon.
Snapchat’s purpose for this feature is for users to reach a larger audience and expand their friend’s list through phone contacts and potential friends that you might know.
The problem is that appearing on the Quick Add section will ultimately lead to getting random requests regularly.
Step 1: Go to the Settings Cog
We need to get the Quick Add option disabled.
Open the Snapchat app, tap on your user’s profile picture at the top left corner of the screen, and then select the settings icon at the upper left corner of the screen.
Step 2: Select “Who Can See Me in Quick Add”
In the next menu, scroll down until you find an option that says “Who Can See Me.” Tap on it, and a new pop-up menu will appear on the next page.
Here, select “Quick Add.”
Step 3: Turn off “Show Me in Quick Add”
You need to toggle off an option that says “Show Me in Quick Add.”
If you do so, you will no longer appear on other person’s Quick Add lists. This will drastically reduce the random request you are getting.
Method 2: Disable Mobile Phone Finding
Some people can use your phone number to find you on Snapchat.
If, after disabling Quick Add, you are still getting random people requests, then do the following (it works both on an Apple and Android phone).
- Tap on your profile icon at the top left corner of the screen. Then, go to settings;
- Scroll down until you find an option that says “Phone Number.” Tap on it, and proceed;
- Now, toggle off the button that says “Let others find me using my mobile number saved on the Snapchat app;”
Now, people won’t be able to find you by looking for your phone.
Method 3: Disable Notifications in Search Results
This method is a little extreme, but it’s a great way to prevent weird people from adding me on Snapchat.
It consists of blocking requests and contacts to your close friends and no one else.
- Open the Snapchat app, and go to Settings once again;
- Find the “Who Can” option, and select “Send me notifications;”
- Here, select “Only Friends.”
Only users that you have added to your list will be able to send private Snaps.
However, individuals can still find your Snapchat usernames if they look for them on the search bar.
Mutual Friends Can Still Add You on the Snapchat App
Mutual friends (friends of your friends) can still find you through Snapchat ID and send you a private message if they please.
Nevertheless, we can all agree that having Snapchat Mutual Friends sending you requests is way better than having strange people doing so.
That’s all you need to know for now! We hope this article helps you to solve your random friend requests problem.

Random People Adding Me On Snapchat FAQ
Can You Block Bot or Spam Accounts?
Yes, you can, but they will probably keep coming. Remember that bots work by employing automatic patterns, so they can add you several times even if you continuously block them.
